The Mathematics curriculum aims to provide an opportunity for all pupils to develop an enthusiasm for maths while also making cross curricular links to other subjects to enhance the relevance of maths to the world around them.
The curriculum aims to enable all our students:
- To develop the skills required to be financially and numerically literate to enable them to be successful in their personal life and the workplace.
- To become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, building on and developing their knowledge over time with the ability to apply it to increasingly difficult problems.
- To solve problems by breaking them down into smaller, manageable steps, linking together different methods to make progress.
- To develop resilience, confidence and independence, so that they can take these skills and apply them all elements of their lives.
Our aim is for all pupils to leave us with a maths qualification, with opportunities to take Level 3 standard qualifications, GCSEs or Entry Level Certificates.
