At Sir Bobby Robson School, we recognise the powerful role music plays in supporting wellbeing, self-expression, and personal development. Our music curriculum is designed to engage pupils through a wide range of musical styles, cultures, and experiences, helping them to develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation of music.
We understand that many of our pupils arrive with varied and sometimes disrupted musical experiences. Through a carefully structured, inclusive, and well-resourced curriculum, we aim to re-engage learners, build curiosity, and broaden their musical understanding.
Our music curriculum aims to:
- Expose pupils to a diverse range of music from different cultures, genres, and time periods
- Develop skills in performance, composition, and listening
- Promote music as a tool for wellbeing, emotional expression, and enjoyment
- Build confidence through accessible, engaging, and practical experiences
- Encourage curiosity and expand pupils’ musical interests beyond their personal preferences
Music is a key vehicle for engagement in our SEMH setting, offering pupils opportunities for success, creativity, and positive self-expression.
Music is delivered through a progressive model across key stages, supported by high-quality facilities and specialist teaching.
